In honor of The Hunger Games film, Taylor Swift came out with a new single “Safe and Sound.” For those of you who are familiar with The Hunger Games trilogy, you might think T-Swift’s style is not a good choice to represent such a gripping series. But you would be pleasantly surprised to learn that this is not the case.
“Safe and Sound” is not the generic country music that Swift usually plays. This song is deeper than what her audiences are used to, and it’s perfect for “The Hunger Games.” Its slow haunting rhythm truly shakes you to the core. Normally one would expect Taylor to be ranting about a cheating boyfriend, or about a new found love, but not this time. “Safe and Sound” is an ode to life, normalcy, and love. It is a welcoming of pain and despair, which is not very typical of this country girl.
The only question for listeners is this: When can we get some more of this new Taylor Swift? Now, with bated breath, we wait to hear “Safe and Sound” on the big screen this March, when the Hunger Games comes to theaters.
