This year marks the 54th year of the Grammy Awards. There are many artists that have had a great year and that have accomplished popularity for making hit records. Adele won the Grammy in 2009 for Best New Artist, and has since been tremendously growing in popularity. She is nominated for six Grammys, which are: Record of the Year, Album of the Year, Song of the Year, Best Pop Solo Performance, Best Pop Vocal Album, and Best Short Form Music Video.
Nominated for Best New Artist, Bon Iver has become very popular, releasing a self-titled album in June 2011. He is nominated for four Grammys, including Best Alternative Music Album and Record of the Year.
Nicki Minaj jumped into the spotlight when she was on a track for a Young Money rap. She has grown as a solo artist ever since, and is unique in her outrageous style and eclectic voice. Minaj is nominated for Best New Artist, Best Rap Performance, Best Rap Album, and Album of the Year.
Since the Grammys are music awards, there will be performances by many different musically gifted artists. They include: Katy Perry, Adele, Jason Aldean, Kelly Clarkson, Coldplay, Rihanna, Foo Fighters, Paul McCartney, and Taylor Swift, just to name a few!
It was a great year for music, so there is no doubt that music’s biggest night will be something special. Make sure to watch the 54th Grammys on February 12th at 8|7c, only on CBS.
